How to get
- Nearest airports: Perugia, Rome Fiumicino, Rome Ciampino (further away: Florence, Pisa).
- From the airport you can:
- rent a car and drive directly to Farnese, or
- take a train from the airport to Rome or Viterbo, and then continue by bus.
- The easiest way to reach Farnese is by car.
- From Rome / Fiumicino (FCO) and Ciampino (CIA) airports: head towards Viterbo or Civitavecchia (about 2 hours).
- From the north (Tuscany, Florence, northern Italy): take the A1 motorway (Orvieto exit) or the route via Grosseto.
- In Farnese you can easily park in a free car park (turning off Corso Vittorio Emanuele near the post office) just before the old town; from there it is about 300 m to the apartment, or in the car park next to the Santissimo Salvatore church (150 metres) for only 3 minutes.
- You can also drive through the (very!) narrow streets of the old town almost all the way to the apartment: first follow Via Principe Amedeo and, after circling the old town, continue to Via XX Settembre and stop (only for a moment, so as not to block the traffic) nxt to the very narrow Via Giovanni Battista Passeri, where Casa di Asate is located.
- From Rome Fiumicino (FCO) airport take a train to Roma Trastevere, then a regional train to Viterbo (about 2.5 hours in total).
- From Rome Ciampino (CIA) airport take a bus or train to Roma Termini, then a train to Roma Trastevere or Roma S. Pietro, and from there a regional train to Viterbo (about 3 hours in total).
- From Viterbo take a regional Cotral bus to Farnese, Piazza Umberto I (about 1 h 10 min, several services a day). From the square it is about 300 m to the apartment.
- Before travelling, it is a good idea to check the current timetable (Cotral website / Google Maps).
